Callistemon viminalis – Plant profile

3 June 2022

Callistemon plants are one of the hardiest of Australian Native plants. They are a durable, tough plant, lasting in hot, dry areas and requiring little maintenance. Featuring a spectacular flower, they attract a range of native wildlife, including birds and honey eating creatures.

There are some 50 varieties of Callistemon across Australia, each one unique with its own growing pattern. Ranging from low-growing shrubs to a tall screening plant, there is a variety to suit every application.

Perhaps one of our most favorite characteristics of the Callistemon plant, is the range of flower colours available in the market. Traditionally, red was the primary flower colour available. These days, flower colours range from white, red to varying shades of pink!

Here at Able Nursery, we believe that stocking a healthy range of native plants plays a crucial role in helping our local environment maintain a healthy ecosystem. Currently we grow 6 varieties.
